Californians already know and love the TRU Bowl brand of superfoods. Now, Arizona is getting its first franchise location at 147 South Higley Road. Our team assisted the company with fabricating and installing reverse-lit channel letters in Gilbert, AZ. However, this look has a twist.
Reverse Pan Channel Letters are Ideal for an Incoming Business Needing a Building Sign
We have previously discussed the differences between reverse pan channel letters and front-lit letters. The TRU Bowl team opted to go with the halo illumination that is working so well in California. However, for this project, we added a light management film overlay. This vinyl product causes the letters to appear dark during the day but white at night when the LEDs turn on. The finished product is stunning and makes the client’s location stand out for sure.
A Closer Look at 3M’s Day Night Film
Light management film is a specialty product designed for illuminated signage. The cover diffuses illumination and alters visible light transmission. This quality allows the letters to have a dark color during the daytime versus a light color after dark. More clients are now using this product because nothing stands out better than white in the darkness. Day/Night channel letters are the types of dimensional letters that illuminate the facade and add a distinctive wow factor to the look.
Choosing Lighting Options for Channel Letters
The standard channel letter is front-lit with a painted acrylic panel covering the aluminum construction. Reverse-lit letters let the light escape through the back and typically have painted fronts. However, there are now plenty of additional options to consider.
- Colorful LEDs. Standard LEDs are white. However, why not add multicolored LEDs supporting your chosen hue to emphasize a color combination?
- Multiple LEDs. You do not have to limit yourself to having either a front or a back-lit display. We can place light sources inside the letters to illuminate the backs of the surface covers and another set to create the shadow play.
- Spotlights. Non-lighted channel letters are an option. While clients typically do not request them, they are excellent options for a facade that needs an impressive set of three-dimensional letters. Adding spotlights lets you illuminate them from the outside.
