Our team routinely works with clients to help them get noticed. For Maricopa Community Colleges, this meant displaying an illuminated push-through letter sign in Tempe’s JA Biz Town.
Inspiring Students and Getting Attention With Custom Cabinet Signage for an Indoor Display
Junior Achievement of Arizona hosts JA Biz Town, where elementary school students get hands-on experience in personal finance, workplace skills, what it means to be a consumer, and how to work with them. Maricopa Community Colleges maintains a space at Biz Town.
The client was looking for a signage redesign. They wanted a sign that could be illuminated and make a bigger statement. We were happy to help. Our team suggested a cabinet sign with push-through acrylic letters. We paired this with a front-lit, pan channel logo. The design is bold and highlights the client’s brand in a way that gets attention.
What are Push-Through Acrylic Letters?
Push-through acrylic letters are another way of making a sign that displays three-dimensional letters. However, unlike a standard panel to which we would mount 3D acrylic letters, this panel has cutouts that allow the letters to be pushed through from behind. As a result, it is possible to illuminate these letters without having to put together a channel letter setup. LEDs positioned inside the sign’s body light up the letters or their edges, depending on the design.
Clients like this signage construction because custom push-through letter signs are ideally suited for interior and exterior signs. The sign’s construction impresses customers with precision-cut details that give the product a high-end appearance. Not surprisingly, you will find push-through letter signs in Tempe’s corporate and contemporary settings. Other uses include building, monument, and lobby signs.
Custom Push-Through Letter Signs vs. Standard 3D Letter Signage Products
We have already discussed the difference in construction. The inserted acrylic letters enable illumination for face-lit or edge-lit displays. Clients like these products because the integrated lighting gives the sign a contemporary feel and high-end look.
On the other hand, there are 3D letters we mount on panel signs. In other words, we take a flat panel made of metal, acrylic, or PVC and attach the dimensional letters to the front. There is commonly no illumination unless the letters are fabricated as channel letters. This signage setup is a good option because it allows for a mixed media production incorporating several materials and finishes. Besides that, it still allows for a professional 3D appearance.
Which Sign is Right for Your Brand?
If your brand embraces premium or modern elements, the push-through construction is a better match. Illumination allows for around-the-clock branding and visibility. In contrast, 3D letters mounted to a panel work well for locations where the display is primarily needed during daylight hours. What could your brand look like with either of these constructions? Let’s talk about it.
