Transforming a Gatorfoam Sign into a Head-Turning Lobby Marker

Because Grayson Law was ready to wow visiting consumers, we designed a product that shows off its branding in the most favorable light.
We started with the logo on the left. It has a Gatorfoam square that shows a brushed metallic finish. Our technicians overlaid this material with metallic blue vinyl. The Letters “G” and “L” consist of half-inch-thick Gatorfoam that sits on top of the square to add more depth to the dimensional play of the style elements.
For the remaining text, we combined Gatorfoam with brushed silver laminate and painted acrylic letters. These we flush-mounted with VHB tape, which keeps all the pieces perfectly in place. The finished product is a lobby sign that looks spectacular, sets the tone for the office, and was budget-friendly.
Why Use Gatorfoam?
Business owners favor the use of Gatorfoam because it is reasonably inexpensive. Therefore, it is the perfect substrate when you plan to layer other materials on top of it. One example is a metal laminate, such as brushed aluminum. Other clients have had excellent success with adding acrylic overlays and painting the sides of the letters in colors that would heighten the contrast with the wall’s tone.
