Seton Catholic Preparatory located at 1150 North Dobson Road is a repeat client for school signs and graphics in Chandler, AZ. In the past, we worked with the school’s athletic department on the design, production, and installation of banners and graphics to brand the venue’s baseball facility. Our sign shop also updated the scoreboard sponsors and fence banners. When the administration called us this time, it needed help with signage that would take advantage of unused wall spaces and turn them into brand messages.
Remodeling Leaves Blank Walls Suitable for Brand Building
Last summer, the school had its front office remodeled. A side effect of this project was the creation of plenty of blank white walls that required branding. The administration was unsure how to take advantage of these surfaces and asked our specialists for input. We conducted a site survey and proposed several dimensional interior signs.
The administration decided on displaying the school’s name and logo with dimensional style elements. In addition, the school wanted to highlight the symbols it uses. They feature various colors, which allows the administration to take advantage of the white walls and create a visual contrast that immediately catches visitors’ attention to the location.
Intricacies of Making Custom Signage
Our shop routinely custom-designs signage for clients, including schools! Doing so guarantees that the products are unique to your location, which, of course, is crucial for focusing attention on your brand story. For this school, we fashioned the round logo using Gatorfoam. This indoor-rated sign foam is durable, looks great, and has a superior three-dimensional visual appeal. We overlaid the product with imprinted vinyl that allows for creating the highly-detailed graphics.
The dome sign is also made with Gatorfoam. However, for this product, our technicians used back-painted acrylic faces. We mounted them in progression on the dome image, which gives the signage the illusion of movement and jutting out considerably in the middle. It is a design trick that works well for areas where you want to draw attention away from blank spaces.
For the installation, we flush-mounted the signs to the wall. A final project we took on was a set of etched vinyl graphics and lettering for the entrance door. It identifies the school’s name and shows one of the brand elements that visitors will see in the foyer as they enter. Our client loved the finished result.
