Our team is looking back on the first half of 2020. During this time, several signage trends emerged that are shaking things up in the local business communities. Are you on the cutting edge, or do you need to catch up?
A Back to Basics Approach Favors Black and White Color Combinations
Monochromatic displays were the height of fashion during the 1920s. This is one trend that is making a comeback. It refers to the combination of white lettering against a black background (or the other way around).
You see this with lobby signs that favor vinyl overlays. It is also present with building signs combining 3D letters with a board or blade mount. Another combination might involve a box cabinet construction.
Matte or Brushed Metals Take a Backseat to Polished Metal Style Elements
This is a flashback to the 1980s. However, if you have recently invested in brushed aluminum lettering, you do not have to change it completely. In some cases, business clients add polished metal elements to support their brand message on the exterior.
On the interior, many business clients now favor the relocation of the signage to ensure that the highly polished metal letters do not reflect natural light or artificial lighting. As a result, these companies are finding new ways of utilizing their space and welcoming customers.
Of course, if you are in the market for a new shiny metal sign, we can help. Choose from 3D metal letters or a logo board approach.
Cloud Signage is Giving Standard Channel Letters a Run for the Money
You already know that channel letters are among the most popular building signs currently on the market. Each letter makes up an element. However, some companies are now experimenting with a type of signage that connects the different parts. It is a bit like handwriting but without the ornate font usage.
Best of all, you can combine cloud signs with box cabinets that introduce numerals, logo depictions, or even decorative touches with a niche-specific meaning.
LED Illumination is a Must
If your signage still lights up with something other than LEDs, you are behind the curve. Our team is currently undertaking quite a few signage refurbishing projects that include LED retrofitting. However, LED illumination is now also taking center stage in other signage components.
Building signs that light up have grown in popularity. The same is true for illuminated lobby signs. These might feature push-through acrylic letters in a metal logo board, hidden LEDs behind an acrylic panel, or scaled-down channel letters on your focal wall.
