Boosting the Great Looks of Three-Dimensional Design with Layering
You already know that many business owners prefer three-dimensional letters when commissioning their lobby signs. However, this client wanted to go a step further. They requested a 3D lobby sign that would pop with the help of layered style elements. We were happy to comply.
- Dibond. We cut out the backer portion of the sign from Dibond. This material consists of aluminum sheets that encase a plastic interior.
- Gatorfoam. Indoor-rated sign foam is an excellent material for signage construction. Not only is it budget-friendly, but it is also suitable for artistic presentations and boosts to 3D setups through layering. In this case, we cut out mountains using half-inch-thick foam and letters using three-quarter-inch foam.
- Finishes. We painted the returns of the letters black. Doing so is an excellent method for having the lettering contrast with the backdrop. The mountain portion of the sign features a brushed silver laminate that has black vinyl accents.
After putting together and flush mounting the sign to the wall, you can see the depths working together to create a fantastic design that catches the eye and truly stands out.
Outstanding Signs with Layering
Mixed media signs are not new. In the same way, layering is not a new technique. However, combining the two can result in stunning signage products that can bring your brand to life like nothing else. Most importantly, you can incorporate sign foam or something else.
- Acrylic and vinyl. One of the most popular combinations is the clear acrylic logo board with the imprinted clear vinyl on the front and the frosted gray vinyl on the back. This mix sets the stage for a great 3D appearance that you can boost using brushed aluminum standoffs for the installation.
- Acrylic and metal. In this scenario, our team puts together acrylic logo boards that feature three-dimensional letters, numerals, and graphics we cut from brushed aluminum or another metal. When we paint the acrylic to suit your palette, we can hide LEDs behind the corners for an edge-lit display.
- Metal and push-through acrylic. The reverse combination is a good choice when you want the letters to pop. The metal hides the LEDs, whereas the acrylic allows the light to shine through. This design boosts the brand colors you want the customer to see.
