Hughes Supply Adds 3D Halo-Illuminated Reverse Pan Channel Letters Before Moving Into a New Building

Hughes Supply is a returning client. We previously assisted this client with showroom graphics for a new kitchen and bath store, as well as mural vinyl graphics. When the client expanded to Buckeye, our team designed, produced, and installed an exterior sign package, which included a reverse pan channel building sign. For this latest project, we put together several building signs for a new location in Phoenix.

What are Reverse Pan Channel Letters?

Our team gets a growing number of requests for halo-illuminated building signs in and around the Phoenix area. With the lighting coming from behind the letters rather than shining through their faces, each element is bathed in a soft halo glow. We use aluminum to fabricate the faces and sides of the letters. For the back, we custom-fit a clear acrylic cover. Because LEDs are so versatile, our clients can opt for a warm or cool lighting experience. During the day, reverse pan channel letters display as brand-centric, solid elements that are ideally suited for featuring the corporate color palette.

Reverse Pan Channel Letters Versus Standard Channel Letters

What type of signage is right for your storefront or office building? Each design does an excellent job at advertising your location, greeting customers, and building your company’s brand. That said, there are some differences.

  • Illumination. Front-lit letters allow illumination to escape through the elements’ faces. Backlit letters let light shine from behind them. This illumination creates a halo effect after it reflects off the wall.
  • Effect. Standard channel letters focus on brand colors and make a bold statement, both during the day and at night. After dark, reverse pan channel letters focus the customer’s attention on the luxury or upscale aspects of a brand. During the day, they represent a brand-centric display with a slightly less bold appearance than their front-lit counterparts.
  • Applications. You often see front-lit channel letters in shopping centers and on the walls of grocery stores. Reverse-lit channel letters are frequently used for banks, luxury retailers, and hotels.

Choosing Your Next Building Sign

Do you prefer the bold display of a front-lit sign or the subtle elegance of a halo-lit appearance? Maybe you are looking for a completely different signage solution. If you favor lighted signs, consider also lightbox cabinets as alternatives. For businesses that do not require illumination, we recommend three-dimensional building letters made from PVC, metal, or acrylic. Call us today to learn more about your options!
