We all want to have our cake and it eat too. Here is a relatively common question: How can I get a full coverage window graphic that appears opaque from the outside but still allows light in for visibility from the inside? The answer is perforated window graphics. Perforated vinyl has small holes in it and is black on the adhesive side. Since black is a non-reflective color, from the inside of a room or vehicle with a perforated window wrap, the outside is easily visible. The visibility is so good in fact, that it is legal to wrap vehicle windows (with the exception of the front windshield) with perforated vinyl.
Letting in the light in from the outside is a beautiful thing and luckily this does not have to be sacrificed in the process of installing window signage. Call us, we are your go-to shop for perforated window graphics or window perf in Chandler, Mesa, Gilbert, and Phoenix, AZ.
Window Perf for Storefronts
Perforated window wraps are great for storefronts, they offer all the benefits of window graphics while maintaining the ability to see the outside. There are a number of varieties of window perf, the main variation is the percentage of the film that is the holes vs. the print. We typically use ImageVue 65/35 material that is 65% print, 35% holes. This can change based on the application, the more visibility you need the greater the “hole percentage.” This is a decision that our experienced signage professionals can assist you with.
Trim Time Pet Grooming
We were recently contacted by Mesa Pet Groomers, Trim Time, about putting in some updated window graphics. Trim Time is a pet grooming shop with a ton of pride, they guarantee satisfaction. If you aren’t in love with the way your pet looks, you don’t pay. They also have a ton of personality, the interior is brightly colored and buzzing with cheerful activity, and they wanted this to be reflected in their new window graphics. The 17 year old paint job that they had was just not cutting it anymore. Jennifer from Trim Time expressed a desire to have a full coverage, cartoony, faux-shopfront design but she didn’t want to block out all the windows. This was the perfect application for window perf.
There was a design challenge with this job in that the building actually houses two pet grooming operations. Both needed to be represented independently in a way that was complimentary. This was an awesome project and Jennifer loved the final result.
Perf for Vehicles
Perforated window graphics are also commonly utilized in vehicle wraps. In fact, window perf is a necessity for a full wrap. Of course, it is unsafe to have solid graphics over every window in a vehicle, visibility out the back windshield is required. Perforated window graphics are a pretty recent technological breakthrough, invented in the UK in the mid 1980s. It wasn’t until 1991 however, when the technology was perfected that the first full bus wrap was completed in New Zealand.
We commonly use perforated window graphics on vehicles. In the case of vehicle windows, it is especially important that vinyl be installed correctly, as sloppiness can result in visibility issues and very quick wear and tear. More so than with any other type of vinyl, we are put to work to correct botched window perf installations very often. We use certified installers and guarantee satisfaction. See how you can take advantage of this very cool, relatively new technology. Give us a call today!
