The team at Efinity Mortgage opened a new office and needed a custom interior illuminated lobby sign in Phoenix, AZ. The client requested a design that would fit with, and underscore, the firm’s brand story.
Branding with a Backlit Lobby Sign
We discussed the project with the client, received the brand specs, and got to work. Our graphic artist designed the halo-illuminated reception sign that perfectly matched Efinity Mortgage’s branding. Our team then fabricated the three-dimensional letters, installed the LED lights, and mounted the lobby sign with standoffs to enable an attractive light display. Look closely, and you notice that the sign is installed on a wall covered with striped wallpaper. The illumination looks stunning, perfectly expresses the client’s brand message, and immediately greets customers as they walk in.
What is the Difference Between a Back-Lit and Edge-Lit Lobby Sign?
Both signage options allow for illumination. However, the display differs significantly. Efinity Mortgage selected a halo-lit sign design, meaning our technicians mounted LEDs behind the letters. The illumination reflects off the wall, which creates the desired halo glow around each letter.
The visual effect is stunning. The 3D letters are bold and dramatic, appearing to float above the wall. Its appearance creates a highly visible, eye-catching brand presence that performs well even in bright rooms.
In contrast, an edge-lit lobby sign contains LEDs along the edges of clear acrylic letters or panels. Here, the light shines through the acrylic, illuminating the etched or polished area. The result is a contemporary, minimal look that impresses with its sharp, refined appearance. Moreover, this illumination design offers a subtle, thin profile, ideal for smaller spaces. Note that edge-illuminated lobby signs are not as bright as their halo-lit counterparts. As a result, this setup works best in low to moderate lighting.
A Third Option for an Interior Illuminated Lobby Sign in Phoenix: Channel Letters
Indeed, channel letters are not just for a building’s front. We can scale down the sizing to create 3D letters that fit well into your reception space. You can display them with or without a backer panel. During the day, interior channel letters look like your typical 3D sign with its defined brand colors. After dark, or when you turn on the lights, you notice a bold display of the brand color against the panel or wall backdrop.
Choosing a Lobby Sign That Embraces Your Brand
Edge-lit signs, back-lit 3D letters, and front-lit channel letters are effective at capturing customers’ attention. Your brand message may be the determining factor when selecting the illumination style. If you prefer metal for high-impact branding, channel letters and backlit letters are effective. If you prefer an acrylic finish with a modern look, edge lighting may be a better option. Let’s talk about it. Call us today to discuss the best illuminated lobby signs for your business!
